On 25 October 2018, in Zurich, Switzerland, an Economic Roundtable on Transformation, Trade and Investment analyzed the reforms undertaken by the Ukrainian government in the last four years, showcased the trade and investment success stories and opportunities Ukraine offers Swiss investors, and discussed the challenges Ukraine faces on its path of economic development and transformation.

The Roundtable was a collaborative effort between the Ukrainian Society of Switzerland, the Committee in Support of the Economic Development of Ukraine under the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), the Swiss Joint Chamber of Commerce (JCC), and was hosted by top Swiss law firm Froriep Legal.

The event brought together 50 select high-level representatives from a number of spheres, including investment, finance, energy, legal, and government.

The event opened with a welcome statement from Ambassador of Switzerland to Ukraine Guillaume Scheurer, followed by words of welcome from Ambassador of Ukraine in Switzerland Artem Rybchenko, both of whom noted the strong economic ties between Ukraine and Switzerland, and expressed optimism for their continued development.

Moderated by Andrej N. Lushnycky, President of the Ukrainian Society of Switzerland and Honorary Consul of Ukraine, the Roundtable included the following distinguished panelists: Andy Hunder, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, Lenna Koszarny, Founding Partner and CEO of Horizon Capital, Kostyantyn Chyzhyk, Deputy Head of the Office of the National Investment Council, Oleh Pruss, President of RCLIN Medical Group and Artem Shevalev, EBRD Board of Directors.

“Ukraine’s development over the past years, despite a challenging environment, has been remarkable and the real game-changer has been the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, which not only entices Ukrainian business to pivot to the EU market, but also stimulates the development of high value-added businesses in Ukraine,” commented Founding Partner and CEO of Horizon Capital, and Chair of the UWC Committee for the Economic Development of Ukraine Lenna Koszarny.

Similar Roundtables are planned for other European centres.
