Congratulations to the UWC leadership in the United States on high state awards

September 1, 2021 – Washington DCCongratulations to our community leaders in the US upon receiving Ukraine’s state awards for commitment and service to the Ukrainian nation. The award ceremony took place during the opening of the Ukrainian House as part of a working visit of the President of Ukraine to the United States of America. 

UWC Vice President, UCCA President Andriy Futey received the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th Degree. 

Marta Farion, Vice President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America received а well-deserved award for strengthening the international prestige of Ukraine, development of economy, science, education, culture, art, health care, for outstanding charitable, humanistic, and public activities. 

We also congratulate Michael Sawkiw, Director of the Ukrainian National Information Service, on his well-deserved state award. 

George Chopivsky, President of the Chopivsky Family Foundation, representative of the UWC Advisory Board also became a Knight of the Order of Grand Prince Yaroslav the Wise of the 5th degree. 

Alexa Chopivsky, Adviser to the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Deputy Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board at UkraineInvest, Ukraine House Davos Executive Director, Andrew Mac, Washington partner for the Ukrainian law firm, President Volodymyr Zelensky’s non-staff adviser, the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America (UBC)’s Artistic Director and Conductor, Oleh Mahlay, and UBC’s Past President and current Treasurer, Anatoli Murha are also among the recipients of honorary awards.

“We are proud of the service and commitment of our community leaders, of their selfless work to benefit Ukraine and our global nation,” stated Paul Grod, UWC President.
