China boosts trade with Russia and conducts joint military exercises

China is actively increasing its trade with Russia. According to a report from American intelligence assessing 2024 threats, the export of Chinese goods that Russia could use for military purposes has more than tripled since 2023, as reported by Reuters.

China is providing economic and security assistance to Russia as it wages war in Ukraine, by supporting Russia’s industrial base, the report said. It also warned that China could use technology to try to influence this year’s US elections,” journalists write.

According to a report, the United States faces an “increasingly fragile world order” that suffers from competition from major powers, transnational challenges, and regional conflicts.

The US must assist Ukraine in its struggle against Russia, stated the Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines in her testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Haines mentioned that it is challenging to imagine how Ukraine can maintain the territory it has reclaimed from Russia without more significant assistance from the United States.

Meanwhile, Iran, Russia, and China have begun joint military exercises in the waters of the Gulf of Oman in the Arabian Sea, as reported by the Iranian state agency IRNA. The training commenced on March 12.

The main objective is to “strengthen security in the region, protect international maritime trade, combat piracy and terrorism, and exchange operational and tactical experience in the conduct of maritime operations,” according to journalists. The military drills, named “Marine Security Belt – 2024,” involve the participation of military ships and aircraft.

Earlier, it was reported that China had increased its supply of high-precision machinery to Russia tenfold since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
