Chilean parliament adopts resolution supporting Ukraine

The Senate of Chile has approved a resolution condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and endorsing President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, as reported by Ukrainian parliamentary speaker and chairman, Ruslan Stefanchuk, on Jan. 30.

The resolution calls for the restoration of Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders and an increase in humanitarian aid.

“This stance further proves that the world rejects Russia’s aggression, and the global coalition supporting Ukraine is only growing stronger,” Stefanchuk wrote.

In addition to condemning the aggression, Chilean lawmakers urged the international community to diplomatically support the restoration of Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders, including the Crimean Peninsula that Russia initially invaded in 2014. 

The resolution also emphasizes the protection of human rights and encourages cooperation between Ukraine and Latin America for the sake of “justice and international stability.”

“I am grateful to our Chilean partners for their solidarity! Together, we will achieve victory and a just peace!” Stefanchuk said.
