“Children will curse us in trenches”: Lithuania’s minister on “peace” with Russia

According to Gabrielius Landsbergis, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, achieving a peace agreement with Russia is unattainable due to the belief that the Kremlin would utilize such an opportunity to replenish resources for future acts of aggression.

For Russia, “peace agreement” only means “time to rearm”. We are dangerously close to missing the opportunity to end centuries of the Kremlin’s imperial aggression and secure the future of multiple continents,” Landsbergis said.

If the world misses the opportunity to end Russia’s aggression now, then future generations will be forced to continue the struggle, the minister says. “Our children will curse us in the trenches we are digging for them,” Landsbergis emphasized.

Earlier, western journalists reported that the USA and Europe allegedly started discussing with Kyiv possible peace negotiations with Russia and concessions from the side of Ukraine to reach an agreement.

However, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that the Ukrainian government will not sit down at the negotiating table with the Kremlin and that there is no pressure on it from the Western partners.
