Denmark hopes to deliver its French-made Caesar self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine the next month, and the first batch of German-made Leopard 1 tanks, this summer, the Danish acting defense minister announced in Odesa on Monday, according to the Ukraine Media Center.
Speaking at a press briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart Oleksiy Reznikov, Troels Lund Poulsen said the artillery systems will come to Ukraine with their crews now trained on firing grounds in Denmark.
As for the Leopard 1 tanks, Poulsen said Denmark signed an agreement with Germany two months ago, and he hopes the shipment to begin by this summer.
“It will be possible to deliver about 100 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine. And we will be able to discuss the supply of Leopard 2s, of which there are not too many in Denmark,” he added.
“Soon, you will hear tanks growl in Ukraine with a Danish accent,” Reznikov joked.
