Keith Kellogg, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, will present the U.S. President’s plan to end the war in Ukraine at the 61st Munich Security Conference. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources.
The sources did not disclose how detailed the discussions will be or in which format they will take.
However, Kellogg has confirmed his participation in the conference, which is taking place on Feb. 14-16.
“As the U.S. president’s Special Envoy for Russia and Ukraine, I look forward to speaking about Donald Trump’s goal to end the bloody and costly war in Ukraine,” he said on X (formerly Twitter).
One potential element of the plan is to freeze the conflict, leaving Russian-occupied territories in an ambiguous status, while providing Ukraine with security guarantees to prevent further Russian aggression.
Recent reports and statements from Kellogg and others suggest a possible strategy of “peace through strength,” a concept promoted by some of Trump’s team.
Kellogg also mentioned that he plans to meet with U.S. allies who are “ready to work with us” on ending the war in Ukraine.
Earlier, former German diplomat and Munich Security Conference chairman Christoph Heusgen said that any potential peace talks might include preserving Ukraine’s territorial integrity, but with temporary loss of sovereignty over certain regions.
The Ukrainian community in Munich has announced a large pro-Ukrainian event to coincide with the Munich Security Conference, where UWC President Paul Grod will speak.
