BISHOP EPHRAIM KREVEY, OSBM
(1928-2012)
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses deep sorrow with the passing on April 3, 2012, of His Excellency, Most Reverend Ephraim Krevey, Bishop of the Eparchy of St. John the Baptist in Curitiba, Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Brazil.
The passing of Bishop Ephraim Krevey is a great loss for the entire Ukrainian diaspora, and particularly in Brazil. The late Bishop tirelessly dedicated his life’s work to strengthening the religious and community lives of local Ukrainians and to the preservation of their national identity.
Bishop Ephraim Krevey devoted his energy to the opening of numerous Ukrainian churches and the founding of various cultural-artistic ensembles and community organizations. His efforts contributed to the establishment of a Ukrainian-Brazilian Central Representation, which coordinates the work of local Ukrainian associations and represents their interests in the UWC.
For his significant contribution to the development of Ukraine, Bishop Ephraim Krevey was awarded the Order “For merit” III rank and a recognition award from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
