Archeparch of Philadelphia for Ukrainians and Metropolitan for the Ukrainian Catholic Church in the USA, Borys Gudziak, urged Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson, to garner support for Ukraine.
“I think the Speaker of the House Johnson has heart, and I am sure he will do the right thing. I want to encourage him to do it now. Don’t wait,” said Gudziak in an interview with ABC News.
The United States cannot isolate itself from Ukraine’s struggle. “Ukrainians are saying to us ‘Let us get the job done. We need your help. We need the instruments. We need humanitarian aid’,” says the Archeparch.
To help Ukraine means to halt the suffering and crimes Russia perpetrates on Ukrainian territory. “There is the great tragedy, trauma, which will be lasting. But there is the valour, there is the willingness of people to put aside superficial things and say ‘this is good and this is evil, this is true and this is false, and I’m willing to risk my life for it,” concluded Gudziak.
The Metropolitan of Philadelphia expressed gratitude to Americans for their support and assistance to Ukraine, urging them once again not to give up and to help Kyiv defeat the Russians.
