Ukraine has received the first batch of aid from Azerbaijan to support its energy sector, which suffers from barbaric shelling by Russia.
The cargo weighing 52 tons consists of 45 power transformers and 50 generators of various capacities worth a total of $837,000, the Energy Ministry of Ukraine reported on Sunday. This equipment will be shipped to the regions of Ukraine most affected by the Russian attacks, in particular to the distribution system operators of the Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhya and Chernihiv oblasts, as well as generating companies.
“I have the honor to hand the first batch of further humanitarian aid, which Azerbaijan provided in response to requests from Ukraine. The energy equipment was provided to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity to the affected territories of Ukraine. Taking this opportunity, I wish peace and prosperity to the friendly people of Ukraine as soon as possible,” said Sabir Rzayev, Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ukraine.
“I thank our Azerbaijani friends and personally the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov for the quick response to our request and assistance to the energy sector of Ukraine in these difficult times,” said Energy Minister of Ukraine Herman Haluschenko.
