Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese promised to provide additional military equipment at Ukraine’s request, as stated during a briefing with President Zelensky in Kyiv on Sunday.
Mr Albanese stated that Australia will provide an additional 14 armored personnel carriers and 20 Bushmaster armored vehicles, bringing the total number of Australian Bushmasters provided to 60 units. Australia will also provide additional military equipment and drones in accordance with Ukraine’s request.
Australia has already provided Kyiv with $390 million in aid and plans to allocate another $100 million for military and technical assistance.
As President Zelensky emphasized, this is the first visit of the head of the Australian government to Kyiv in the entire history of relations between the two countries. Australia supports Ukraine and international law and provides significant assistance to Ukraine, including defense assistance. “Our defenders highly appreciated, in particular, Australian Bushmaster armored personnel carriers and other specific assistance from Australia.” noted President Zelensky.
President @ZelenskyyUa has shown bravery and leadership emblematic of his people in the face of Russia’s brutal and illegal invasion.
