The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appointed diplomat and lawyer Andrii Sybiha as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, announced Yaroslav Zhelezniak, an MP from the Holos (Voice) faction. The decision was supported by 258 lawmakers. The Ukrainian World Congress extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Sybiha on his new appointment and eagerly anticipates his productive efforts on behalf of Ukrainians globally.
Andrii Sybiha, an experienced diplomat from Zboriv in the Ternopil region, holds a degree in international relations and English language translation from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
He commenced his tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997. Between 1998 and 2002, he served as both the second and subsequently the first secretary at the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland. Additionally, he fulfilled the role of the first secretary in the legal and humanitarian cooperation department within the European Integration Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also held leadership roles in the Treaty and Legal Directorate (subsequently renamed the Department) of the Ministry.
From 2008 to 2012, Sybiha was a counselor at the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland, and from 2012 to 2016, he headed the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In August 2016, he was appointed as Ukraine’s Ambassador to Türkiye. In May 2021, he became Deputy Head of the Presidential Office. In April 2024, Sybiha was appointed First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
