The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) has expressed its gratitude to the Australian government for providing Ukraine with 14 rigid hull boats, the organization announced.
Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles reaffirmed Australia’s steadfast commitment to supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
“Ukraine has demonstrated its ability to thwart Russia’s continued attacks from the Black Sea. We are proud to contribute to these vital maritime defenses with this new package,” said Marles.
He added that supporting Ukraine aligns with Australia’s national interests. The boats will help strengthen Ukraine’s naval and coastal forces as part of a broader $14 million assistance package.
“Ukraine has many needs and the fight is far from over. But Australia’s support for Ukraine has helped push back against a criminal, genocidal invasion, uphold the rules-based global order, and support democracy and freedom,” the AFUO said.
Earlier, the AFUO secured the transfer of 49 U.S.-made M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine from Australia after months of negotiations.
