A Ukrainian sports drama now available on Netflix

Streaming giant Netflix has added one more Ukrainian movie to its library – “Puls,” a sports drama directed by Serhiy Chebotarenko.

The film, which is #7 in movies on Netflix as of Monday, tells a story of a young Ukrainian track-and-field athlete who lives in a tiny town and has a big dream — to get to the Olympic Games. She performs greatly and has every chance to compete at the Games, but a terrible car accident makes her further sports career questionable. However, she is not going to give up.

According to IMDB, the film’s plot is based on the real story of Oksana Boturchuk, a Ukrainian track-and-field athlete and Paralympic champion of 2008, five-time silver and bronze winner at Summer Paralympics of 2008, 2012 and 2016.

In 2021, “Puls” won two nominations at Flathead Lake International Cinemafest in the United States and a Jury Award at Nice International Film Festival Online, according to Wikipedia.
