59th Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival held in Dauphin

Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival, which is always celebrated on a large-scale, with a long history and impressive ability to gather visitors in their hundreds, has come to a fitting conclusion in the Canadian city of Dauphin.

Stretching over a period of three days, the festival involved dozens of Ukrainian groups from all over the North American continent, offering performances across three stages.  There was a Ukrainian fair, master classes of different interests, as well as a talent contest for budding stars and geniuses. There was also an opportunity for everyone involved to attend services at local Ukrainian churches.

Canada’s National Riding Cossacks & Co, after celebrating its 50th anniversary last year, put on a marvelously impressive show on the first day of festivities, with cossacks on horseback and traditional dance performances.

On the second day, there was a grand ceremonial parade of participants through the central Dauphin Street. Also on this day, there was a competition to discover who had the ability to eat varenyky the fastest!  Arguably you can never get enough of a delicious dish.

Greetings to the participants of the festival were recorded by representatives of officials and officials: Wab Kinew, Premier of Manitoba, David Bosiak, Mayor of Dauphin, Glen Simard, Minister of Sports, Culture, Heritage and Tourism of the Province of Manitoba and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba Ron Kostyshyn.

The  Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival takes place over every long August weekend in Dauphin, MB. It originates in 1965 from an initiative of the Dauphin Chamber of Commerce.

Its main mission is to preserve and popularize Ukrainian heritage and identity.
