In October 2015, the 20thousandth NATO-standard Improved First Aid Kit (IFAK) was presented near the Donetsk airport to a soldier of company Karpatska Sich by representatives of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) humanitarian project Patriot Defence.
The UWC project Patriot Defence was established in May 2014 to protect the defenders of Ukraine by providing IFAKs and educating them on the fundamentals of combat first aid. Through project Patriot Defence over 25,000 fighters have been trained. Patriot Defence is led by UWC Director of Humanitarian Initiatives Dr. Ulana Suprun.
“The Ukrainian World Congress expresses sincere gratitude to the leadership, instructors and volunteers of the UWC humanitarian initiative Patriot Defence for their dedicated and tireless work and acknowledges the many donors from around the world who, with their generosity, contribute to saving thousands of lives among Ukraine’s servicemen and women,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
