Ukraine will be represented by 140 athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, as announced by the President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Vadym Gutzeit. This is the smallest number of athletes in all the years of Ukraine’s participation in international sports competitions.
“The total number of athletes competing at the Games in Paris is 140. They will be represented in 23 program events,” said Gutzeit. Ukraine will compete in only one team sport – football. At the same time, for the first time in history, Ukrainians will have representation in breaking and climbing.
Russian athletes, as well as athletes from Belarus, will participate in the Paris Olympics only as neutral individual participants with significant restrictions, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced in March. Overall, there will be only a few dozen athletes, who will not be present at the ceremonial parade of teams at the opening of the games on July 26.
Earlier, it was reported that the Ukrainian community in France is preparing to boycott the participation of “neutral” Russian and Belarusian athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, revealed Volodymyr Kogutyak, UWC Vice President for Western Europe.
