Ukrainian World Congress condemns murder of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC)
condemns the killing of well-known Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov who was murdered in the center of Moscow on 27 February 2015.
Boris Nemtsov was one of the few Russian politicians who openly supported Ukraine’s EuroMaidan, raised the illegality of the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, condemned President Vladimir Putin’s military aggression in Eastern Ukraine and campaigned for the release of Nadiya Savchenko, Ukraine’s Member of Parliament, illegally imprisoned by Russian governing authorities.

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) calls upon the international community to publicly demonstrate support on 1 March 2015 for Nadiya Savchenko, Member of Ukraine’s Parliament and Delegate to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, who was illegally imprisoned by the governing authorities of the Russian Federation.
 
On 25 February 2015 a Russian court upheld the decision to extend the detention of Nadiya Savchenko to 13 May 2015.

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses deepest condolences to the families of the victims of a terrorist attack in Kharkiv, Ukraine, on 22 February 2015 that targeted a peacful march commemorating the first anniversary of the violent attacks on EuroMaidan participants in Kyiv and remembering the Nebesna Sotnia, the indviduals who made the ultimate sacrifice for Ukraine’s future.

Ukrainian World Congress calls for urgent measures to enforce Minsk agreements
 
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) strongly supports the governing authorities of Ukraine in calling for the international community to  prevent further violations by Russia and its proxies of the Minsk agreements.

Despite the Minsk agreements, Russia and its proxies continue their offensive in Eastern Ukraine as evidenced by the continued shelling in the areas of ​​Debaltseve and Donetsk. In addition, the Russia-led militants blocked the OSCE mission to monitor the situation.

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) draws the attention of the international community to the increasing number of deaths among children as a result of the barbaric terrorist acts in Eastern Ukraine that, in violation of the Minsk agreements, continue to be committed by Russia-backed terrorists and Russian special forces.

Ukrainian World Congress leadership met with Chairperson of the Parliament, Minister of Health, Minister of Social Policy and Secretary of the National Defence Council of Ukraine
 
On 11 February 2015 the leadership of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) led by its President Eugene Czolij met with Chairperson of the Parliament of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, Minister of Health of Ukraine Alexander Kvitashvili, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko, and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov.
 
The main focus was on effective means for the Ukrainian diaspora to assist Ukraine with strategic issues related to the defence of the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

UWC leadership met with government officials, Members of Parliament and religious leaders in Ukraine and the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine

On 10 February 2015 in Kyiv, Ukraine, the leadership of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) held a series of meetings with government officials, Members of Parliament, religious leaders and community activists in Ukraine, and the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine to strengthen cooperation in the defence of the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine with the escalation of armed aggression by the Russian Federation and terrorist activities of the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics. The UWC President Eugene Czolij also introduced the newly appointed Director of the UWC Mission to Ukraine Serhiy Kasyanchuk.

Ukrainian World Congress President meets Vice President of the World Jewish Congress and President of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars
 
On 10 February 2015 in Kyiv, Ukraine, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij met the Vice President of the World Jewish Congress, Josef Zissels, and the President of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars, Refat Chubarov, to discuss the concept of the “Coalition for democratic choice” and future cooperation in support of peoples that have chosen the democratic path of development.

Ukrainian World Congress condemns another crime against humanity in Ukraine
 
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses sincere condolences to the families of the victims of  another crime against humanity committed against the civilian population in Kramatorsk by Russia-backed militants and special forces on 10 February 2015 which claimed 17 lives and injured 65 residents, including six children.

The first international conference on "Development, standardization and implementation of tactical medicine in Ukraine" was held in Kyiv 19-21 January 2015. The organizer of the event was the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) humanitarian initiative Patriot Defence that conducts tactical medicine training in accordance with U.S. and NATO standards.
