11-13 September 2015 the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) will be held in Madrid, Spain.
During the three-day meeting delegates to the AGM will review the work of the UWC in 2014-15 and develop an action plan for the future with a specific focus on coordinating the work of Ukrainians around the world in providing support for Ukraine, counteracting Russian disinformation and strengthening the UWC worldwide network. The program will also include a march and rally under the banner “Ukrainians throughout the world together with Ukraine”.
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) condemns another violation of the territorial integrity of Georgia by the Russian Federation as a breach of international law and an aggressive provocation of the international community.
On 10 July 2015 Russian troops unilaterally moved border markers 450 meters deeper into Georgia from the South Ossetia demarcation line. As a result, a 1.6 km.-long segment of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline is now on territory illegally occupied by the Russian Federation.
On 5 July 2015 the Director of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Mission to Ukraine, Serhiy Kasyanchuk, participated in, and delivered a presentation during the forum titled “Donbas Ukraine. Daily Agenda” which was held in Slovyansk with the goal of finding the means to jointly address the current issues facing Donbas.
On the first anniversary of the downing of Malaysia Airlines MH17 on 17 July 2014 the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) and Ukrainians worldwide remember the victims of this horrific terrorist act.
“The Ukrainian World Congress stands firmly with the families and friends of the victims of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in calling upon the international community to pursue criminal accountability for this act of terrorism,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
On 14 July 2015 in Ottawa, Canada, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij.
A range of topics were discussed related to the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ukrainian World Congress and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 28 August 2014, including joint efforts to protect Ukraine’s independence, strategies to counteract Russian disinformation, the UWC Mission to Ukraine, UWC humanitarian initiatives and the 2015 UWC Annual General Meeting in Spain.
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) congratulates the founders and activists of UWC project “Patriot Defence”, UWC Director of Humanitarian Initiatives Dr. Ulana Suprun and Marko Suprun, upon being granted Ukrainian citizenship by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
